A Spiritual Journey filled with ACTS in Faith…A Message from Pastor Dave Glesne
We are on a spiritual journey during the three years of sacrificial giving to the ACTS in Faith campaign. The following are my thoughts on how to get the most out of this spiritual journey.
- Focus on God and His goodness to us . Set aside time to meditate on His goodness to us as a congregation and to us as individuals. Reflect on what we have been given: life itself, health, family, daily bread, friends, a church home, forgiveness and life and salvation in Christ. We have been greatly blessed.
- Cultivate a grateful heart . Tell God how thankful you are for His goodness and gifts. A thankful heart is a heart God delights in! Just as we parents delight in our children being grateful for what we do for them, so God delights in our thankfulness. Number yourself with the one leper that returned to give Christ praise and worship for the miracle he received.
- Become a partner with Christ . Christ is calling us to be faithful witnesses to his death and resurrection for people. In the Acts 1:8 vision He is calling us be his hands, and feet, and voice in this world here, there, and everywhere. By His Spirit He works through us humans to reach out to people. Say to him, “Lord, by the power of the Holy Spirit, I am willing to do your bidding in this world. I put myself and my resources at your disposal”
- Ask God, “What is it you want to do through me in the ACTS in Faith Campaign?” He calls us to return the tithe to Him. Now in the campaign He is asking us to sacrifice by giving above and beyond what we normally give. After asking Him what He wants to do through you, become quiet.
- Listen for the voice of the Holy Spirit. In that quiet time with God, listen for thoughts coming from Him. Let Him guide you and speak to you. Let him reveal to you what He wants you to give. If you have a spouse, talk with him/her about what God is saying to them.
- Respond in obedience with joy! Expect God’s blessing in giving. Expect God to change lives near and far for eternity through your giving. Rejoice in knowing that God is using you to advance His kingdom.
The ACTS in Faith Campaign is a spiritual journey! It is all about God, His goodness, a grateful heart, putting ourselves and what we have in His hands, seeking His will, listening for the Spirit’s voice, and responding in obedience with joy!
